Improving Access and Efficiency

Akeeko Medical is committed to improving lives by making medical care more accessible and efficient. Our multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers, and business professionals works to develop solutions to clinician-identified pain points in healthcare systems.

Our Flagship Product: Akeeko Stent Inserter (launching in 2026)

An Operating Room in the Palm of Your Hand

On track for market entrance in 2026…

Developed by a team of urologists, clinicians, and engineers, the Akeeko Stent Inserter (ASI) enables immediate ureteric stent placement, providing rapid pain relief with minimal recovery time. It is a cost-effective, local anesthesia-based alternative to the current standard of care which requires an operating room, general anesthesia, and expensive and cumbersome equipment.

Akeeko Medical’s sterile, single-use device enables stent insertion to be performed in the emergency department or clinician’s office. This saves time, money, and resources while improving patient wellbeing. Patients receive on-the-spot relief from their pain and can resume normal life.

The Statistics

115 Million Cases

In 2019, over 115 million people worldwide were diagnosed with kidney stones, with 1 in 10 people suffering from the condition at some point in their lifetime.

$2.1 Billion & Growing

In 2000, the condition cost the U.S. healthcare system US$2.1 billion annually. This figure is projected to reach US$4.1 billion by 2030. Additionally, in 2000 in the U.S., annual lost productivity due to the condition was estimated at US$775 million.

600,000* Stent Insertions

600,000 renal colic patients undergo stent insertions every year globally as the standard of care (SOC). 98% of procedures take place in operating rooms, utilising significant time and resources.

6 to 13 Days of Waiting

Patients face agonising delays while waiting for operating room availability, prolonging pain and reducing quality of life while increasing the risk of infection with each passing day.

Our Process

Simplifying Ureteric Stent Insertion With World-First Mechanism

Step 1: Quick Preparation

The Akeeko Stent Inserter uses a set-up equivalent to a flexible cystoscopy and a stent loaded onto its single-use, sterile device—no additional equipment or general anesthesia required.

Step 2: Outpatient Procedure

The insertion process takes under five minutes and can be completed by a clinician in the office, on the ward, or in the Emergency Department, eliminating the wait for an operating room.

Step 3: Immediate Pain Relief

Patients experience rapid pain relief and can go home within a few hours, resuming their daily lives without delay.
